AR -15

The AR-15 is a gas impingement rifle that operates using a .223/5.56 caliber bullet. This firearm can come in several calibers in semi-automatic configuration. The “AR-15” is a modern sporting rifle with versatility, accuracy and dependability that make it very will suited for defense, and has exploded with popularity among the hunting community.

Some of the benefits associated with an AR-15 include:

  • Design allows for many accessories to be added to the weapon without inhibiting its use or affecting accuracy.
  • Stock design keeps barrel straight regardless of position.
  • Magazine capacities range from 10 to 30 rounds
  • Can easily convert to different ammunition size by changing the upper receiver

The AR-15 is the civilian equivalent to a M-16 automatic military weapon. The only difference between the two guns is the interior construction preventing the AR-15 from being converted to an automatic weapon.

Many gun enthusiasts like the AR-15 because of its ability to be converted into different caliber sizes and barrel lengths.

Rifles

Rifles are firearms that are designed to be fired from the shoulder. The barrels of these firearms are grooved to create a spinning action with the projectile. The spinning action allows the bullet to become more aerodynamic and increases accuracy and range.

Rifles are available in many different barrel lengths, riffling twist and caliber sizes. These firearms also are manufactured out of many different materials. Each barrel size, caliber size and composition changes the purpose for the firearm.

Rifles are used for a variety of purposes including:

  • Professional target shooting
  • Hunting
  • Home and personal defense

Rifles also come in many different action styles. Depending on your preferences, you may select from lever action, bolt action, and semi-automatic.

Many gun owners prefer the rifle over a handgun because of the range obtained when shooting. This long range accuracy is perfect for hunting and target shooting.

Rifles or long guns have been actively used by the military and civilians since the mid 1800’s. It was discovered that by creating grooves in the barrel, the musket was more accurate and had further distance. As guns evolved from the musket, the rifle became the preferred weapon of the military and civilian gun owner alike.

Pistols

Pistols were designed to be hand held weapons, requiring one or both hands to fire. Often, the term handgun and pistol overlap each other in common language. Pistols have many design types, are constructed from many different materials, and are available in many caliber sizes.

Different Categories of Pistols

  • Single Shot
  • Multi-barreled Pistols
  • Revolvers
  • Semi-Automatic
  • Machine Pistols (Fully Automatic)

Pistols come in a wide variety of calibers from as small as the .22 caliber to as large as the .50 caliber. Each caliber has its own specific purposes. In most cases, hand held guns, or pistols are preferred for home and personal defense.

One of the most important things a gun owner should consider when looking at a pistol is the body composition. Each body style and make has its own benefits and drawbacks. For example, composite handguns withstand the heat of rapid fire much better than metal based guns. However, nickel plated guns are more resistant to physical damage.

Hand guns have been around since the 13th century. Known as hand cannons, these pistols were barrels that were loaded with ammunition and then tied to a stick before firing. It has taken over 800 years to develop them into the fine instruments they are today.

Tactical Weapons

Tactical weapons are by definition, firearms used for tactical purposes. Known for their versatility, these weapons are very light weight, can interchange parts quickly, and are heavily accessorized. Most tactical gear has many interchangeable parts which allow the gun to be used under any circumstance.

Tactical weapons are the preferred weaponry of the police force and some members of the military. They are not prohibited from civilian ownership, and many private owners have a large variety of tactical weapons in their collection.

Tactical weapons are usually AR-15 styled rifles. However, they are not limited to this type of gun style. Many other gun manufacturers produce tactical weaponry.

Tactical weapons use a variety of calibers. Caliber size will determine the best application for the weapon. Smaller calibers tend to be more accurate at shorter distances while larger calibers remain accurate for long distance targets.

These weapons can be composed of many different materials. Owners should evaluate the materials to see if they meet their needs. Stocks and grips are also interchangeable on these weapons, allowing for the most comfort of the person firing the gun. Other accessories can lso increase accuracy, comfort and purpose for this type of weaponry.

Ammunition

Ammunition is categorized by caliber or size. It can also be separated into gun style and purpose. It is imperative for all gun owners to understand the broad range of ammunition available and the different applications associated with each.

Rifles, shot guns, and hand guns all take different types of ammunition. The difference in ammo is due to the different barrel sizes and required results. Ammo is further divided into sub categories by size, design, and composition.

Ammunition weights are also very important to consider when selecting the right bullets. Even though it can be the same caliber size as a different manufacturer, the grain weight can make it have different results when firing the bullets.

Jacketing is also another consideration when purchasing ammunition. Ammo can be found in half-jacket and full jacketed styles. The core of the bullet must also be taken into consideration. A cored bullet has a solid core in the center of the projectile which causes the bullet to shatter in a different pattern than a regular bullet.

With so much to consider, it is very important to research your ammunition so that you purchase the right one for your needs.

Gun enthusiasts are thrilled at the latest trigger technology being offered for their AR-15’s. The Tac-Com 3MR Trigger System is the newest technology to emerge on the market for selectable firing options for an AR. The Tac-Com 3MR is a drop-in trigger system that offers the gun owner three different firing modes.

The first mode is the “safe” mode which is standard for all AR-15 guns. The second mode converts the AR-15 into a semi-automatic weapon. In semi-automatic mode, the trigger is a single-stage, 4.5 pound trigger pull, match grade trigger.

The third mode is the patented Tac-Con mode. It is a single-stage, 4.5 pound trigger pull that has almost no take-up. The trigger has a positive reset feature which increases the firing speed. The third mode offers a higher fire rate without losing accuracy or the ability to control the gun.

Extensive testing has been conducted on the third mode using different gun ranges and different test subjects. Each person testing the trigger has stated that the experienced much higher rates of fire in the third mode than they could have experienced with the original trigger group.

The design of the trigger is what allows for more rapid fire than a standard semi-automatic trigger. The ability to keep control of the gun at this higher rate of firing is also attributed to the design of the trigger. The trigger design is fully compliant with all federal regulations and is considered a semi-automatic trigger because of the patented design.

Important Facts About The 3MR Trigger System

  • Easily integrated into your AR-15. Pop out the old pins and trigger and pop in the TAC-Con and re-pin. It is that simple.
  • It is a one-of-a-kind three mode trigger system and the only one available on the market.
  • Second and third modes have a non-adjustable 4.5 pound trigger pull.
  • Trigger is Nickel-Teflon coated for durability and ease of use.

Why Third-Mode Is Not Considered Fully Automatic By The BATFE

When you use the 3MR Trigger, you are pulling the trigger for each shot. Under the guidelines of the law, a fully-automatic weapon is one where the trigger is pulled once and held down for multiple shots. Since the Tac-Con 3MR trigger is used with each shot, it passed all legal requirements.

The trigger works on using the bolt carrier’s rearward motion to reset the trigger. The reset happens so fast that shots can be fired in rapid succession without breaking any laws concerning automatic fire. The 3MR has been certified by the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) as a Non- NFA part which means that there is no special paperwork to complete or waiting period before receiving your trigger.

The Tac-Con 3MR Trigger system provides gun enthusiasts with a way to modify their AR-15’s for more fire power without breaking any laws. This incredible system is easy to use, easy to install, and produces above expectations results.
